Rev. Lisa Maxine Goods-Williams

Rev. Lisa Goods-Williams is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is the daughter of Cassandra Jones and the late Richard Goods, Sr.  She is an honors graduate of the Pittsburgh Public Schools and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Penn State University, where she also served as Director of the Gospel Choir, Vice President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Vice President of the National Association of Black Accountants.  She was also named the 1987 Malcolm X / Fannie Lou Hamer Outstanding Student Leader.

Her Work in ministry has allowed her to work in outreach where she has ministered in nursing homes, facilities of the mentally disabled, and prisons, while her musical gifts have allowed her to serve on various choirs and praise and worship ensembles. She has also done ministry to area singles, women, and children.

 

Rev. Goods-Williams received her Masters of Divinity in 2009 from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL where she received accolades for her academic and theological achievement, as well as her preaching.  She was awarded the Jesse Hasley Award for imagination in preaching in 2007 and the highest honor the James Taylor Award in preaching in 2008 and 2009.  Her sermon “Ending the Identity Crisis,” was selected for publication by The African American Pulpit in its September 2006 edition highlighting the top seminarians across the country.  

Rev. Goods-Williams was ordained into the Christian Ministry in 2011 and installed as Associate Pastor of Outreach and Communication here at Covenant. Rev. Lisa is the founder of the Principle Providers Single Parent Ministry and the church newsletter, Covenant Word of which she editor. She has worked as part of the youth ministry team and serves as pastoral liasion to the Singles Ministry. In addition, Rev. Lisa has worked in the field of Sales and Marketing for over 23 years and is an active mother and community leader. She is the devoted wife of Phillip Williams, Sr. and mother of three sons, Julian James Goods, Phillip Williams, Jr. and Kevin Williams. Most of all she loves the Lord and has a sincere desire to serve God's people wherever possible.
